Novel Review: Queen of The Scalpel

Even though I am a very picky person about novel plots, most of the novels that I read are satisfying to read. Queen of the scalpel is a novel written by Yuin that tells about a woman named Jihyun, a genius surgeon from the present time, who went into an airplane accident, then she was brought back to historical timeline, and she reincarnated into a noble lady’s body named Elise de Clarence. Elise was known as a rude and cruel lady. Jihyun decided to change her way of life and became a kind person who performs surgery and saves many people’s lives.

In her previous life, as a cruel Elise, she was obsessed with the prince named Linden and made a goal to marry him. Previous Elise went through a miserable life and received a death sentence given by the prince. Now, she decided not to be an empress and live as a surgeon. Nevertheless, the emperor and Elise’s father has made a deal to marry their children. Elise cannot avoid this, but to marry the prince. Elise made a deal with the emperor to reconsider the engagement and give her a chance to prove herself as a worthy doctor. From that, Elise journey as a wonderful doctor begins.

My favorite character, obviously, is Elise de Clarence. She is very wise, she admits her previous sins and is willing to change to be a better person. She is very smart and admirable. She is a hard-working person, a considerate person, and brave. She never forgets about her motto to save a person whoever it is and that makes me very inspired.

The best part of this novel is when Elise tries to persuade the prince, Linden, not to do revenge and supports him affectionately whatever the condition is. She is able to make the prince not to make the same mistakes by slaughtering people because of the incident that happens to his mother and sister. Rather than doing short-minded actions, she persuaded the people that were involved and gave the prince mental support. Thanks to her, the prince was able to live peaceably and save the empire from downhill.

I wish the author would tell us about how is the late emperor doing after the surgery that Elise did, explain about Michael if he was reincarnated too or not, and tell side stories about Elise and Linden’s kids.

This novel is suited for people who want to read romance, but don't want a complicated relationship. This novel has a heart-warming romantic story with historical aspects, such as civil war, emperor and authority, magic, and medical aspects. The language of this novel is easy to understand and the plot is one of the best arcs that I’ve ever read. I strongly recommend you to read this novel in your leisure time because it can make your day better.
